
Kazbek is Georgian 3rd highest peak (5047 m) and one of the most beautiful mountains in Caucasus Range. It rise up at the border with Russia, but is most easily ascended from the Georgian side.
The mountain is known locally as Mkinvartsveri, what means 'peak covered with ice'.
Climbing Kazbek is not technically difficult. Some previous mountaineering experience is recommended, but even people without it, who are in a good physical condition and don't have health contraindications for high-altitude physical activity, can successfully reach the top of Kazbek mountain. Our experienced guides will practice with you all climbing techniques and skills needed during ascent on the slopes of the mountain.
Our Kazbek trekking tour was planned in the way to give you the opportunity not only to conquer summit of Mount Kazbek, but also to visit interesting places in the region: Mtskheta, Ananuri Fortress and stunning Sameba Monastery.
Day 1: Arrival to Tbilisi
Our guide will welcome you at the airport in Tbilisi. We will drive to the city centre to a hotel.
About 17:00 will be meeting with all group members and your guides. We will have short briefing. Guides will explain you all tour details and answer your questions. They will show you a short video about Mount Kazbek. Then we will check our equipment before starting trekking tour on Mount Kazbek.
Overnight at a hotel in Tbilisi.
Day 2: Transfer from Tbilisi to Stepantsminda.
We will meet at 10:00 am in the hotel and drive to Stepantsminda. On the way we will visit town Mtskheta and Ananuri Fortress (distance: 170 km, 4 hours of driving, including sightseeing). Afternoon you will have time to relax and explore Stepantsminda.

Day 3: Ascent to Kazbek Base Camp
After breakfast which will be served about 8 am we will drive to Sameba Monastery (Holy Trinity church) located at an elevation 2170 m (40 min. driving).Then we will walk to the campsite located at an elevation 3650 m. We should reach the campsite within 6-7 hours. We will set up our tents and have free time.

Day 4: Acclimatization day
After breakfast we will start our acclimatization walk. We will ascent till 4000 m or a bit higher (depending on weather condition). After 3-4 hours we will back to the Bethlemi Hut. After dinner we will practice skills necessary to climb to the summit (walking with a rope, assurance, using ice axe, ect...).

Day 5: Summit Day.
We will start early in the morning, at 1-3 a.m. (depends on the weather conditions) and walk to Plato (4400 m / about 4 hours walking). From Plato we will ascent to Saddle (4900 m) and continue our walk till summit of Mount Kazbek (5047 m). Ascent to the summit takes about 7-8 hours. On the summit we will have time to take some photos and celebrate. Then we will return to Bethlemi Hut (3650 m). The whole mountain action will take approximately 10-12 hours.
During the walk from 3900m to the summit and back to 3900 m, the group will be roped due to crevasses.

Day 6: Spare day
Reserve day in case of bad weather condition.

Day 7: Return to Tbilisi
From the campsite we will walk down to Sameba Monastery (3-4 hours of walking), where off-road vehicles will wait for us. We will return to Tbilisi and check-in at the hotel. At the evening we will have a Farewell Dinner in restaurant.

Day 8: Transfer to the airport
We will eat nutritious breakfast at the hotel. Then we will pack our luggage and drive to the Tbilisi airport. (Breakfast included)
Notice:
- In case do not use reserve day (Day 6) you should pay extra for one more night in Tbilisi; 30 EUR per person
- There is also option to rent horses that will carry luggage to the campsite (for an additional fee).
